Crisis Update

The War in Lebanon

Airstrikes four miles from the CAIT building — and classes carrying on.

Beirut, Lebanon

Every issue is published here as CAIT sent it, so the figures and plans in it are the ones that stood at the time of writing. The rest of this site carries the current ones.

Conflict in Beirut

The ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran have contributed to a broader regional conflict that is increasingly affecting Lebanon. As hostilities have escalated across the region, Lebanon has once again come under fire. These developments have led to airstrikes and growing instability, particularly in southern Lebanon and areas surrounding Beirut, which are 4 miles from our CAIT building.

The humanitarian impact has been significant. Hundreds of thousands of people in Lebanon have been displaced from their homes, with estimates suggesting well over a million individuals have fled areas affected by the fighting.

Many families are currently sheltering with relatives, in schools, churches, or temporary housing while they wait for the situation to stabilize.

What is CAIT Doing?

In the midst of these difficult circumstances, the Christian Alliance Institute of Theology (CAIT) remains grateful for the opportunity to continue serving students across the region.

Because many of our programs are offered online, students affected by the conflict can still participate in classes and continue their theological education despite the instability around them.

Learning and Serving the Church

Through CAIT’s close partnerships with churches throughout the Middle East, some students who can remain on campus have had the opportunity to put their training into practice. They are serving local churches in outreach and ministry efforts during this challenging season.

Even in the midst of a crisis, students are learning not only in the classroom but also through hands-on ministry to the local church and their communities.

Through my involvement helping with the humanitarian relief work of the church ministry, I realized people’s profound need to hear the Gospel message within an atmosphere of acceptance and love. It became clear to me that God’s work, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, continues to this day in that same manner: by spreading the truth and walking in love.
